About Me

In a quick nutshell:

Hello, I'm Kim.   I love being home to cook, garden, relax, watch tv, nap, sleep, and do other similarly exciting things. But since I work full time, I like quick weeknight meals, easy weekend projects and low maintenance gardening.

I would love to share with you, dear readers, recipes from local ingredients.  Also, where to find cool foodstuffs around town.   Sprinkled throughout will be plenty of non-regional homecookin' recipes.  They'll be some gardening musings too.

A little more about me:

I was raised in a small town in the Piney Woods of North East Texas.  Now I live in a sweet little garage apartment in Houston with my with my fiancee, Nick.   We love to eat (and we've got the extra pounds to prove it!).   Currently, we're saving for a house.  Or a some sort of small small portable living solution.  Haven't quite decided yet. Being graduates with Liberal Arts and Visual Arts degrees,  we're living the frugal life to.

I depend pretty heavily on our local Farmer's Markets for fresh, seasonal produce.  I'm a big fan of sustainable and organic agriculture.    I'm also into unusual and exotic (by my small town standards at least) ingredients and dishes.

Technical stuff:

All text and photos belong to me unless otherwise noted.  So if a recipe is adapted from another source or someone else's photo used,  there will be very obvious credit given.

If you're hoping to use one of my photos, I'll be pretty flattered.  But do drop me a line and provide a link back to the original post.   My email is thehoustonhomebody AT gmail DOT com

Don't be shy to comment or recommend to me stuff to try / places to visit.  Or let me know if I made any glaring errors in a recipe!  Of course, keep comments nice or politely constructive.  Mean stuff and spam gets deleted.

Thanks for visiting me!
